At a glance. As the organizers of Harvest Noir, the rogue picnicking pop-up event and dance party that first emerged in 2011, we are announcing our retirement from the Ottawa festival scene.  Harvest Noir is going out with a big bang on Saturday October 3, though…

  • Headlined by two-time Canadian DMX champion DJ Shub battling DJ Acro on the dancefloor.
  • A small army of acrobats and sideshow acts will be on hand, including a parkour demonstration, stilt-walkers, face-painters, aerial cirque performance, tribal dancers, acrobatics, hoopers, ventriloquists, magicians, and fire dancers.
  • Celtic fiddlers Beat and Bows, backed by BBWC Wildcard winning beatboxer Julia Dales, are debuting as picnic accompaniment .
  • Two-time Juno nominee DJ Socalled will be bringing out the hip hop, klezmer, accordion, and piano as the Official Carnival music provider.
  • The Stan Clark Orchestra will be playing swing, ragtime, and jive while Ottawa Swing Dynamite’s dancers provide swing dance demonstrations and lessons.
  • Also look out for a karaoke lounge by China Doll, tribal fusion dance/chillout tent by Mascarié, Opera performance by Joseph Song Chi, and more!

DJ Socalled

High-energy concert you won’t want to miss.Popmatters called DJ Socalled, this year’s headliner for the farm-to-table market and funfair, a “renaissance man in the truest sense of the word” for his incredible fusion of performance hip hop, klezmer, accordion, piano, and more. Socalled will not only lay down exceptional carnival music for the games and market atmosphere, he will also be performing magic tricks as well at Harvest Noir. The multi-talented Socalled was nominated for 2012 Juno World Album of the Year and 2015 Classical Album of the Year.

Beats + Bows

430pm. Refined picnic accompaniment with funky percussion.
Making their debut at Harvest Noir, Beats and Bows will wow picnic-revellers with their mix of celtic and classical music on violin and guitar, backed by the Beat Boxing World Champion (BBWC) Wildcard Winner, Julia Dales.

Joseph Song Chi

730pm. Operatic Celebration of Light.
As we light up the Ottawa skyline with 1,000 sparklers during the Celebration of Light, international opera singer Joseph Song Chi will electrify the audience with an aria. Joseph has performed across Canada and Europe with the Canadian Opera Company, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Communale di Bologna among others.


DANCE NOIR 815pm-2am.
Once again, we are opening up the amazing Harvest Noir after-party, DANCE NOIR, to guests who are not attending the chic picnicPlan to stay up late: Dance Noir was voted one of Ottawa’s sexiest parties.

shubDMX champ DJ Shub battling DJ Acro

Battling Ottawa’s own DJ Acro with a crowd-pleasing mix of Top 40, dance music, hip hop, reggae, and classic rock will be the Juno-winning DJ Shub, former DJ & Producer for A Tribe Called Red. Winner of the Supremacy DJ Championship, DJ Shub was Canadian champion representing our nation at two DMC World Championships, as well as the Redbull Thre3Style DJ Competition in Chicago. Dance Noir Swing & Jive Dancehall! Back by popular demand, the ultimate live big band! The Stan Clark Orchestra will be at the helm of a prohibition-era dancefloor, bringing on the classics like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, George Gershwin, Benny Goodman, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and, of course, Cab Calloway.
